Susie Finkbeiner is in our store tomorrow night, talking about her newest release Trail of Crumbs. I recommend coming and hearing her speak about her research for the book and maybe she will drop a few hints for her next in the Pearl Spence series.
Trail of Crumbs opens almost right where Cup of Dust leaves off. Pearl is trying to come to grips with everything that has happened in the past few weeks and even understand what it means to her and her family. When tragedy strikes the Spence family once again, they decide they have had enough of the dust bowl and a move to Michigan is planned.
That is about all I want to say on the plotline as I am afraid I will go on and on and give the entire book away. It is so easy to do. (BTW if you are in the store and see me talking to Susie you might want to avoid us both as we may be discussing the book. Well unless you have read it then join the conversation. 🙂
Susie is hitting her stride. Her writing is such a pleasure to read, her characters come to life and you find yourself cheering for Pearl and your heart begins to break for the little girl that is being forced to grow up in ways most of us never will.
Included in the story is the perfect little town. Set in the depression there is this certain innocence yet and it is a good reminder of how we should and can help each other through many different situations.
I do recommend reading the books in order, but don’t stop at book #1 make sure you continue Pearl’s story. Then come see Susie tonight and get your book autographed.
