A couple weeks ago I had a wonderful Sunday afternoon with nothing planned. I didn’t tell anyone about it because I wanted to just enjoy the weather and read. The Sweet Smell of Magnolias and Memories by Celeste Fletcher McHale was the book of choice and it was perfect.
Jacey and Colin do not share a long history together, but it was an intense 3 days. They were trapped on a roof during the flood of 2016 in Mississippi. They promised they
would find each after things were back to normal. Jacey’s rescue boat was hit and she once again ends up in the water. Causing not only a loss of memory, but the loss of that precious phone number.
After a year they do find each other back. At a wedding, one that Colin is the pastor for, something he failed to mention while on the roof. Jacey is drawn back to him immediately, but she is unsure if she can trust him. But there is something about him…
Even though this book deals with some heavy topics, memory loss, natural disaster, death, it is an easy read. I read it in one day because it was such an interesting storyline with really good characters.
This would be one of those books that will make a great summer read. One that will keep you reading until the end and make you ready to start reading Celeste’s next book even though it is not available yet. 😉
